What it actually does

Speech is messy. People pause, restart, contradict themselves and say “no, actually” halfway through a sentence. VibeType removes the filler and the false starts and inserts the sentence you meant, rather than a literal transcript you then have to edit.

• Works in any app: on the Mac without turning on system dictation, and on your phone as a keyboard you switch to.
• Cleans up as you go. On the phones you choose Light, which keeps your own words, or Smart, which says what you meant more clearly, and each app can have its own style.
• Learns your words. On the Mac, correct a name once and it is remembered. On iPhone, add a misheard name to your dictionary in one tap, and a writing profile learns your sign-off and the words you prefer. On Android, a word you correct twice is added to your dictionary.
• Writes for you on the phones: tap the AI button, say what you want, and it writes the reply, the rewrite or the email.
• The Mac dictates in over 100 languages. The phones understand English and Hindi, even mixed in one sentence.
• Keeps your history on your device: on the Mac, with your custom vocabulary; on the phones, with your journal, and in your own iCloud or Google backup.
• On the Mac, touches the clipboard only to insert text. Its contents are saved before pasting and restored immediately after.

How each app handles your voice

Most dictation tools record your audio and send it to a server to be transcribed. VibeType handles your voice differently on each device, and the difference is worth stating precisely rather than claiming more than is true.

• On the Mac, the speech model runs on your computer. After the initial model download, transcription needs no internet connection, so you can dictate on a plane or a locked-down network. Your dictation audio is never uploaded. The app goes online for sign-in, plans, word counts and updates, and sends your text elsewhere only if you connect your own AI provider.
• On iPhone, your recording goes straight from your phone to the speech service, never through VibeType's servers. With no signal, or when you choose to dictate on the phone itself, it stays on your iPhone, in English. The text is tidied by our service and AI provider and not saved, except what your writing profile learns from.
• On Android, your recording also goes straight to the speech service, and the app needs a connection to dictate. With no signal, the recording waits on your phone until it can be sent. What it learns from your corrections stays on your phone.

On every device, VibeType never sells what you dictate or uses it for advertising or to train AI. The privacy policy sets out exactly what each app sends and keeps.

Requirements and availability

• Mac: Apple Silicon, macOS 13 or later. The app is lightweight at rest; during active dictation it uses roughly 600 MB to 1.7 GB of memory, depending on the processing mode, because the model runs on your machine. Signed builds are on the download page.
• iPhone: iOS 26 or later, on the App Store.
• Android: in testing, and coming soon to Google Play, for Android 10 or later.
• Windows: planned.

How it is priced

VibeType is free to start, with 1,000 words a week. Pro raises that to 6,000 and can be paid monthly, yearly or once for life; Max has no weekly limit. One plan covers every device you sign in to. Plans are bought inside the apps: through the App Store on iPhone, and on the Mac in rupees in India or in dollars elsewhere. Full details are on the pricing page.
